To: E Delmar Aldrich, Raymond H Eilers, George Kappelman, Jacob F. Fredrikson, Marvin Melius, V. G. Crosswhite, Andrew P Sauer, LeRoy F. Bohr, Darrel L. Christopherson, James Stoner, Charles McDonald, Lyle D. Ralston, Floyd Meek, Herbert Van Der Lugt, Frank Pehoviack, Oliver Johnson, Charles Smikle, Gerald G. Von Colln and Richard J. Mahoney and to their successors legally qualified to institute a Local Chapter, State Council or Associate Body, to be known as South Dakota Chapter 1 in the city of Rapid City, state of South Dakota.
This charter is granted the above named persons for the purpose of creating an Organization of Pearl Harbor Survivors and for establishing a more perfect unity of those Pearl Harbor survivors who are legally qualified to make membership in the Organization.
Grantees shall be empowered to frame by-laws, institute proceedings, and conduct the business of its membership in accordance with the laws, usages and requirements of the National Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and incompiance with the best interests thereof.
The National Pearl Harbor Survivors Association grants this Charter with the understanding that should the grantees or their successors fail to comply with the Constitution, laws, and requirements of the National Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, or if the local chapter dissolves or otherwise forfeits this Charter, this Charter will be revoked and grantees shall be required to return all books, documents, properties and funds to the National President or his representatives or to the National Office of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, to be held in trust until such time as the local chapter may be reinstated or organized.
In consideration of the faithful compliance with the above requirements the NATIONAL PEARL HARBOR SURVIVORS ASSOCIATION hereby binds itself to support South Dakota #1, Local Chapter, State Council, or Associate Body No. 124 in the exercise of its rights, privileges, and perogatives as an affiliated Local Chapter, State Council, or Associate Body.
In Witness wherefor, we have subscribed our names and affixed the Seal of the National Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, this 28th day of July, year 1975.
