The South Dakota State Historical Society-State Archives has collected photographs since its founding in 1891. Through digitization we are able to present some of our images while still providing the care needed for their preservation. This on-line collection is made possible through grants as well as support from private individuals.
The Manuscripts Collection is a compilation of digital images from original documents held in the collections of the South Dakota State Archives. The manuscript collections were created by private individuals and organizations.
The South Dakota State Archives collects and preserves significant historical government resources from South Dakota’s past. Digital material in this collection is presented to inform and help foster understanding of the people and achievements that have shaped the history of South Dakota.
This collection contains the original land survey field notes created by the Bureau of Land Management General Land Office in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Field notes are searchable by township and range numbers. Books are added regularly.
